The AYAA is planning to set up a national university rocketry competition. This competition will entail teams’ students designing and building a rocket to launch to 10,000 or 30,000 feet. At the end of the years’ work, teams will travel to South Australia to compete. If this experience sounds exciting to you, then we need your help to make it happen. Completing this survey will provide the event organisers with important information regarding to how large the event can be and will ensure that it happens!

The Young Australian Space Leader (YASL) Award gives 3 students the opportunity to travel to the Space Generation Congress (SGC) and the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Adelaide in September 2017. The award covers accommodation, flights, and registration to the SGC and IAC, as well as participation in the International Space Education Board (ISEB) held during the IAC. This award is jointly sponsored by the Australian Youth Aerospace Association (AYAA) and the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC).
The IAC is the world’s largest annual gathering of space professionals and its parent organisation is the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) that is based in Paris (see: http://www.iafastro.org).
IAC’s have been held every year since 1950. In 1998 the Congress was held in Melbourne and the 2017 event will be only the second time it has been held in Australia.
