NSW Representative - Olivia Ishac
Olivia is in her 5th year of a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology, at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Olivia’s first encounter with the AYAA occurred in 2016 at the Aerospace Futures coference. Here she met NASA astronaut, Greg Chamitoff, who inspired her to follow her childhood dream of going to space. The following year Olivia attended the Aerospace Futures conference, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), and the AYAA’s Space Week in Canberra. These events collectively led to Olivia taking upon the role of New South Wales Representative for 2018. Her ambition is to grow the Space community in Australia and educate the younger generations about the field.
Olivia’s experience ranges from working as the lead Spacecraft Design Engineer for a Space Start-up company, volunteering in Cambodian hospitals as an Engineering Technician, tutoring an engineering design course at UNSW, and currently she is working as the Events Manager for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics UNSW branch.
Upon completion of her degree Olivia aspires to finish her pilot training and work in spacecraft design prior to becoming an astronaut for future Martian missions.
